Southern Living Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Southern Living is a lifestyle magazine aimed at readers in the Southern United States featuring recipes, house plans, garden plans, and information about Southern culture and travel. It is published by Birmingham, Alabama–based Southern Progress Corporation, a unit of Meredith Corporation.
A customer mentioned, "Subscribed to Southern Living for many years but it is nowhere near the magazine it used to be. Cancelling subscription."
Former Employee - Editor (Staff Writer) says"I worked at Southern Living magazine full-time for more than 5 years Cons: No comp time for all the time you spend away from home on business travel. Takes over your life. You get stuck in Birmingham, AL, with few competing opportunities; the company knows this and uses this to underpay you. Also, the idea that everyone wants to work for their hallowed name, so therefore, they can pay you less, is absurd and archaic."
says"I have been working at Southern Living magazine for less than a year Cons: Management is out of touch and inappropriate. No investment in young talent. This is a miserable place to work."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I worked at Southern Living magazine full-time Cons: No specific cons to mention"
Former Intern - Anonymous Intern says"I worked at Southern Living magazine Cons: Horrible Pay, No Encouragement to Learn"
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I worked at Southern Living magazine full-time Cons: Marketing management is very rude and unprofessional. Likes to gossip and make fun of others. Aggressively rude personalities and condescending tone makes it difficult to excel. They do not reflect the brand well."
Editorial Content Provider says"I worked at Southern Living magazine for more than 10 years Cons: Recent years of poor financial performance in parent company's vast holdings triggered a downward spiral in this division's autonomy. Centralizing of many departments to cut costs slowly drained the unique character of the magazine. In recent years there has been a shift away from the southern perspective, a decrease in informational content, and a trending of the publication overall to appear indistinguishable from many other lifestyle magazines. Morale in general has declined significantly among the remaining staff."
